NEWS:the cowboys have done it again…….

Now that mock draft season has officially begun, it’s time to start speculating about the potential destinations of Texas A&M football draft prospects. Early in a prospect’s career, the fit can make or break the following few years, if not the rest of the career.

We are all well familiar with the case of Johnny Football, who was drafted into a horrible situation in Cleveland, and—with plenty of his own mistakes to boot—he failed to flourish. An opposite example could be Donovan Wilson, drafted low by the Cowboys, but has blossomed into one of the most important players on the Dallas defense.

According to one draft expert, too, we could see another Aggie as a part of that same Dallas defense. Field Yates published his first edition of his mock draft yesterday, which saw the Cowboys spending their first round pick (24th overall) on Edgerrin Cooper.

Dallas would be a fantastic home for Edge. He can lay the wood as a tackler and reacts fast. He also has tremendous lateral speed. He’s played in some of the best defences in the game, and one of his specialties is stopping the run, something the Cowboys desperately need right now.

Even if Dallas wants him, it’s possible that he will pass that place because linebackers aren’t often in great demand in the first round. Dallas may just think they can pick him later in the draft.

Still, it’s great to see Cooper getting some first-round buzz. It really seems like the hype around him has been steadily growing even since the season ended, and a big showing at the combine—especially in the 40-yard dash—could do wonders for him. If that happens, who knows—he may be gone by the 24th pick.

In the midst of all the excitement surrounding their 12-5 record and NFC East championship, the Dallas Cowboys failed once more in crucial situations. In the NFL playoffs, they were humiliated by a 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the opening round. As one of the league’s most formidable defensive teams, they didn’t anticipate finishing the season with 48 points against a Jordan Love-led offence.
