Kathy Laurich-Hryb was formally named the Cleveland Browns Fan of the Year in early November. This designation made her the Browns’ representative for the NFL’s 2023 Fan of the Year.

She has been a lifelong Browns supporter and has gone to games both as a child and as an adult. She has been an ardent season ticket holder for more than 75 years, having inherited her father’s tickets when they were still the Cleveland Rams in the American Football League. Her father passed away in 1991, and she has been a part of the team for that entire time.

Laurich-Hyrb received invitations to take part in several activities leading up to Super Bowl LVIII and attended the game in Las Vegas as part of her candidature for Fan of the Year. She went with her son Shawn Hryb, and for a part of the journey, her daughter Kolleen DeGrazia also went. We therefore got to talk to them about their Super Bowl experience and her award-winning season as the Browns Fan of the Year.

Everything about the trip was fantastic. It was fun to get to know the other year’s fans. It was enjoyable to sit with each other at the game; it was strange. It was an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience, from Reba singing the National Anthem to Usher and Alicia Keys, the tie game, and the lavish celebration.

r:ybShawn H It was an incredible experience all around. It is unlike anything to be among supporters of every team who are sharing this incredible journey with you. On this trip, we all got together three times in the hotel lobby. Every meeting was more humble than the last. Both football aficionados and non-fans took notice of the spectacle. It was an amazing event, complete with pictures and anecdotes exchanged.

One of my favourite events was the NFL Honours. It was fun to walk the red carpet; I felt like a princess attending a ball. I had a unique feeling. It was sweet when several asked to take pictures with me and spoke kind things about my football purse, shoes, jewellery, and skirt with the names of Cleveland Browns players on it. The ceremony was made even more memorable by my daughter, who provided incredible assistance in designing my skirt and monogramming “My mom is the Cleveland Browns Fan of the Year” on a shawl. Being able to share this experience with her was unforgettable. We also snapped photos with JOK and Myles Garrett!
