Major injuries decided the season for a lot of teams in the NFL. The Cleveland Browns did not allow all the major injuries that they had to deal with decide their season. Instead, the Browns lost player after player and still cruised to an 11-6 record and no need to care about Week 18’s results.
The Houston Texans, like every team, have had their fare share of injuries on the way to their AFC South championship as well.
Both teams are hoping injuries don’t define the Wild Card game but both had a long list of players not Unlike the regular season where only the last day mattered, this week the second day of practice has a little more weight.
Many of the above players who did not practice today also did not practice much or at all last week and would benefit from two days of practice in advance of the most important game of the season.participating in the first practice of the week on Tuesday.
The vast majority of Houston’s defensive line starters and rotation did not practice today due to ankle and hip issues. Something to watch as Tuesday rolls into Wednesday.
The story of the Cleveland Browns regular season has been injuries. The team and fanbase are hoping that the story of the postseason is health starting with not playing key players in Week 18. A couple of players were hurt during that game but the team was successful in resting a majorit.
The Browns have been cautious all season long with key players sidelined, but there is worry that seven players missed practice on the first day of the playoffs because of injuries:
Tillman and Strong were hurt during Week 18 while Hunt played despite battling injuries all year long.
Cooper, Hopkins, Newsome and Thornhill missed Week 18 due to their injuries and hoping to get them healthy for the playoffs.
