In the NFL, talent, money, draft picks, and salary cap space are the name of the game. For the Cleveland Browns: They have an extremely flexible salary cap, a lot of talent, an owner who is willing to spend big money, and only eight high selection picks overall.

Teams are making progress in the summer, as demonstrated by the Pittsburgh Steelers, who removed three players who started multiple games for them last season on Monday following the Super Bowl. Despite having to absorb dead cap hits, the Steelers’ main motivation was to free up salary cap space.

Looking at the players under contract and the potential savings under the salary cap, the Browns might save a lot of money.

Rather than bringing in a tonne of new players, the Cleveland Browns will be more concerned with salary cap compliance throughout the summer.

According to Spotrac, Cleveland is currently $20 million over the salary cap, making it challenging for the team to let go of its biggest contracts.

If Cleveland wants to compete for a postseason berth, then key players like Deshaun Watson, Nick Chubb, Myles Garrett, and the majority of the offensive linemen must remain in Cleveland.

This raises the possibility of cut players for some players in the second tier of the contract table.
