During the 2023 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers emerged as one of the most unexpected teams. The squad finished 7-3 in the last ten games of the regular season as Jordan Love and the offence suddenly clicked after the team’s 2-5 start. They also proceeded to upset the Dallas Cowboys in the wild card round and came dangerously close to defeating the San Francisco 49ers, the eventual NFC Champions, in the divisional round
Undoubtedly, Green Bay dropped a number of games that they ought to have won against clubs with stronger rosters than their own. Three very awful losses stand out in particular: the ones against the New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, and Denver Broncos.
But they also triumphed over teams regarded as some of the finest in the NFL and played incredibly well. The best victories of the season might be those obtained against the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs in back-to-back weeks (as well as with little rest on Thanksgiving).
NFL Analyst: The Chiefs Could Be Overtaken by the Green Bay Packers
Over the course of his ten-year professional career, Willie Colon, an offensive lineman in the NFL, played for both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Jets. With the Steelers, he won Super Bowl XLIII, but the Packers defeated him in Super Bowl XLV. Colon has covered the Jets for SNYTV and the NFL for The Carton Show since retirement.
Colon was asked on Tuesday which club, if given the chance, he believed could defeat the Chiefs “today.” He answered,
“I’ll tell you what, Green Bay.”
Colon merely spent time explaining why he thought Houston could defeat the Chiefs; he really mentioned the Houston Texans and the Packers as the two teams he feels could defeat them. Still, it is impressive that the Packers are being acknowledged as one of the best teams in the NFL this early in the offseason.
In the regular season, the Kansas City Chiefs were defeated by the Green Bay Packers.
When the Packers beat Kansas City 27-19 at Lambeau Field back in November, Taylor Swift was there to cheer on Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, which made the game particularly noteworthy. Love outperformed Mahomes, who was just awarded MVP of the Super Bowl for the third time in his career:
Jordan Love: 118.6 passing rating, 25/36, 267 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions
21/33, 210 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and 79.1 passing rating for Patrick Mahomes
In their two meetings with the Chiefs, former defensive coordinator Joe Barry was always able to come up with a strong defensive strategy. Naturally, it remains to be seen if the new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley’s Packers defence can step up to the plate against the top offence in the league.
