Questionable play from a player against the 49ers injury………
There is still some worry, even if it seems like Green Bay’s best corner will suit up against San Francisco.
During his press conference on Thursday, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur announced that punter Daniel Whelan (illness), running back AJ Dillon (thumb), inside linebacker Isaiah McDuffie (neck), cornerback Jaire Alexander (ankle), and inside linebacker Kingsley Enagbare (knee) would be out against the San Francisco 49ers.
Enagbare’s condition shouldn’t come as a surprise because the team thinks he tore his ACL, according to reports this week. It is up for debate why, if that is the case, the team hasn’t placed him on the injured reserve and removed him off the 53-man roster.
Similar to Enagbare, McDuffie, Alexander, and Whelan all dressed for the team in the Wild Card round game against the Dallas Cowboys. McDuffie was used as an early downs starter and left the game with a stinger, while the team used De’Vondre Campbell as a rotational player for the first time in his Packer career. Alexander, who was a game-time decision due to an injury that occurred during practice last week, aggravated his injury against Dallas. He didn’t practice this week, but the team is hop
Dillon is thought to have practiced with the squad as he was observed stretching with them today. Due to a thumb injury that kept him out of the last two games, he spent some time during media-accessible sessions with a wrapped club around his hand.
Defence coordinator Joe Barry said on Wednesday that Alexander was in greater form right now than he was at this time last week, when he was able to play. Alexander’s lack of action in practice, according to LaFleur today, is “just where he’s at, right now, and hopefully, he’ll be ready to go.” In addition, he said that Whelan would be replaced as the team’s backup punter by kicker Anders Carlson, but that he believed Whelan was “going to be alright, though.”
It’s unclear what the 49ers’ players’ status will be heading into Saturday’s game because, as of this writing, they haven’t released their injury report. San Francisco’s only absentee on Wednesday was backup defensive end Clelin Ferrell (knee), while the only players who played were safety Logan Ryan (groyne) and starter linebacker Dre Greenlaw (achilles).
A Look Inside Acme Packing Company
The Packers should see much more change in 2025. Ideally, though, a shift in the organization’s leadership will translate into a different playoff experience than the previous 13 years.
