After considering his options, point guard Spencer Dinwiddie decided to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, a team he is already familiar with, rather than the Dallas Mavericks.

Dinwiddie accepted a fresh challenge and stepped outside of his comfort zone when he signed with the Lakers.

“Let’s say you’re a kid and you get your ass whupped by the bully,” stated Dinwiddie. Dallas would have responded, ‘It’s OK, baby,’ like your mama would have. Like your father, Lakers will tell you to get out there and fight until you succeed. Do you sense me? I simply thought that was what I required at the moment.”

In contrast to his previous several seasons, Dinwiddie has struggled this year. He played the first half of the season with the Brooklyn Nets. With the Nets, the veteran averaged 12.6 points and six assists per game, which is a decrease from the previous campaign.

Dinwiddie is relishing the challenge as he embarks on his new journey with the Lakes and hopes to assist Los Angeles earn a postseason berth.

A few Lakers players, including Christian Wood, a former Dallas colleague, recruited Dinwiddie to Los Angeles. Dinwiddie claims that superstar LeBron James was ultimately responsible for persuading him to join the squad.

“In what way will we give C-Wood the credit? Dinwiddie exclaimed, “Bro, what are we doing?” “Look, C-Wood was impactful, I’m giving the credit to Bron.”

In the buyout market, the Lakers sought a ball handler, and they found one in Dinwiddie. His original deal to the Toronto Raptors came before the deadline, and they waived him, allowing him to sign with the Lakers.

After a difficult first half of the season, the Lakers are now 28–26 and in ninth position in the Western Conference. With three straight victories, they’ve been able to get back on track, and now that Dinwiddie is part of the team, they hope to build on this success.

Dinwiddie had the option to sign with the Mavericks, who are currently in eighth place in the Western Conference, just above the Lakers. If Dinwiddie accepts the Lakers offer, he will be pursuing
