The former football star talked about his loss and his recollections of his daughter Devyn Reiley following the accident of the aircraft she was flying during World War II.

After his daughter Devyn Reiley passed away, former NFL player Bruce Collie is speaking out.

Collie told ABC station WBAY-TV that he is unsure of what happened to his eldest child, who died on Saturday at an airshow in Wisconsin after the World War II-era T-6 Texan she was piloting, along with family friend Zach Colliemoreno, fell into Lake Winnebago.

Collie said that Reiley’s passion for aviation dates back to her early years.

“I have pictures of Devyn flying an aeroplane when she was six years old. She was the first of my kids to really take to aviation,” he remarked. “So she had a passion for flying from the start.”

According to the San Antonio Express-News, the pilot and her husband, Hunter Reiley, co-owned a flying school in New Braunfels, Texas. According to WBAY-TV, she was also a co-founder of the Texas Warbird Museum.

According to a post on Facebook by Hunter, there will be a memorial ceremony for Reiley on Saturday in San Marcos, Texas, and then another service in Harlingen.

Her father remarked that during it all, he is depending on his faith to provide an explanation for Reiley’s passing.

It’s been difficult, but as a family devoted to Jesus Christ, we are aware that Devyn is not physically here but rather with the Lord, he told WBAY-TV.
