The latest injury to affect 10 will miss Man United’s match, with a key pair out for Tottenham.

Giovani Lo Celso and Ben Davies will both miss this weekend’s Premier League trip to Manchester United, according to Ange Postecoglou. Initially viewed as benchwarmers, the pair have gained significant value for Postecoglou when an injury crisis devastated the team.

Since the 2-1 loss to Wolves, when Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Cristian Romero, and Destiny Udogie first missed time due to injury and suspension, Davies has not missed a minute of league play.

Van van Ven was back in the lineup for the FA Cup match against Burnley last Friday, but Maddison is still sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained against Chelsea in November. The Netherlands international did not see any action since the game was still in progress, but after completing an additional week of team training, a start at Old Trafford seems possible, especially in light of Postecoglou’s update regarding Davies.

“Ben Davies left the last game with a hamstring injury. When asked about the most recent team news on Friday, the Spurs manager disclosed that they were “probably looking for a month or so for him out.” Romero, who resumed training this week after sustaining a hamstring injury over the holiday season, is adamantly pressing for a return this weekend.

In an attempt to avoid losing to Bayern Munich, Tottenham signed Genoa defender Radu Dragusin this week. However, Dragusin’s availability due to work visa issues makes the new deal seem improbable, as Postecoglou clarified. “It’s fair to say it might be a bit quick this weekend,” he stated in reference to Romero, who had just started training.

“From what I’ve been told and it’s not my area, but from what I’ve been told we’re pretty confident he’ll be available for Sunday.” In addition to Maddison’s injury, the club captain Son Heung-min is also out on international duty, making fellow midfielders Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma unavailable.

Lo Celso appears to have reached his limit as a result of having to play a significant number of minutes in recent weeks due to Rodrigo Bentancur’s delayed return. Postecoglou had earlier disclosed that he had experienced some hamstring discomfort the previous week. “Gio Lo Celso similarly [to Davies’ injury] – though harder to diagnose where he’s at at the moment,” Postecoglou stated of his fitness. “On Monday, we’ll send him for more testing to determine the precise nature of the problem. He is not coming this weekend.”

Subsequently, Postecoglou stated that Dane Scarlett will also miss the game due to a hamstring injury, adding his name to the list of injuries that already includes Alejo Veliz and Ivan Perisic. Another that is comparable is Manor Solomon.returning, but in the meanwhile it appears that new addition Timo Werner will be around for a long time in the squad.
