Jeff Hafley, the new defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers, is returning to the NFL after almost five years as the Boston College Eagles’ head coach in college. Hafley’s seeming estrangement from the college football environment—which for him suddenly did not feel like it used to—led him to decide to give the pros another go. Hafley merely wants to concentrate more on coaching football and less on the nuances of the collegiate recruiting scene, especially with the addition of NIL, an unidentified ESPN source told the media outlet.
Ezoic Hafley finally accomplished his wish, as he is currently in charge of the defence for the Green Bay Packers, who recently fired Joe Barry. Hafley will have pressure to play up to expectations as the new defensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers, as the team tries to build on its 2023 success, which was largely attributed to Jordan Love and the offence.
Hafley was able to lead the team to a bowl-eligible season in 2023—the Eagles finished 7-6 and won the Fenway Bowl—before he left Boston College. Hafley has a 22-26 record in 48 games as Boston College’s head coach.
