Rockets Schedule: In February, Houston will play one of the toughest slates in the NBA.

Friday night at the Toyota Centre, the Houston Rockets defeated the Toronto Raptors 135-106 to start their February schedule. Amen Thompson and Cam Whitmore, two rookies who each set career highs, led them.

But the Rockets’ schedule doesn’t get much simpler over the course of the month. According to the NBA, Houston has the fourth-toughest schedule of any club in February.

The Rockets will play four road games against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Indiana Pacers, Raptors, and Atlanta Hawks after their victory over Toronto. If the Rockets want to be competitive in the Western Conference, they will need to turn around their dismal road record of 5-16.

After playing the New York Knicks, who are perhaps the hottest team in the NBA, at home on Monday, February 12, the club will play the Memphis Grizzlies on the road to wrap up the first half of the season.

Following the All-Star Break, the Rockets play the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans back-to-back before hosting the second-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in a home-and-home series. Another matchup versus the Suns to round off the month will be the first of two games played in Phoenix on March 2.

The Rockets play eight games this month against teams who have a record better than.500, so if Houston hopes to be in the running for the postseason in March and April, they will need to show that they belong.
