In a three-game mini-tournament, 21 NBA rookies and sophomores as well as seven G League players will compete in this year’s Rising Stars event. Seven-man teams will be selected from the NBA player pool by honorary coaches Tamika Catchings, Pau Gasol, and Jalen Rose. The fourth team, which will be made up solely of G League players, will be coached by Detlef Schrempf. The goal score for semifinal matches will be 40. The victoryis showing impressive growth as a defensive stopper and three-level scoring ability while shooting 46.2% from the field and 36.1% from 3-point range. On December 16, Murray had a career-high 47 points in a victory over the Utah Jazz. He broke the franchise record most 3-pointers made in a game by making 12 of his 15 attempts from 3-point range. Along with De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, two All-NBA players, Murray is considered a possible All-Star and an important member of Sacramento’s core. As the NBA trade deadline on February 8 draws closer, Murray is a sought-after player across the league; yet, sources have told The Sacramento Bee that the Kings have not been ready to explore trading for him.
