Bills Expected to Add Standout Wide Player Gabe Davis’s Likely Exit

With Gabe Davis, the No. 2 receiver, most certainly leaving, the Buffalo Bills will have some gaps to fill in their wide receiving corps for the upcoming year.

ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. proposes the Bills utilise their first choice to partially address that vacuum in his most recent mock draft. According to Kiper, the Bills will choose Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell with their No. 28 overall choice in order to provide quarterback Josh Allen a formidable target and relieve some of the load on Stefon Diggs.

Bills Require “Practical” Pass-Catcher
The Bills do have some roster issues, as Kiper pointed out, but none are perhaps more urgent than wide receiver. He brought up Diggs’ late-season decline and the possibility that Davis would be too costly.

When they were open, Kiper noted, “his receivers struggled to get open and didn’t make enough plays after the catch.” Since mid-October, Stefon Diggs hasn’t had a 100-yard performance, and Gabe Davis is currently a free agent. Here is where general manager Brandon Beane may locate a valuable pass-catcher.

The Bills, who have relied heavily on defence in the first round for a few of years, may follow the same strategy this year as they try to bolster their offence. In 2023, they identified a breakthrough pass-catcher in Dalton Kincaid.

According to Kiper, the versatile Mitchell may be a good match and greatly improve Buffalo’s offensive output.

“After transferring from Georgia, the 6-foot-4 Mitchell made a name for himself by catching 55 passes for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Longhorns in 2023.” Kiper

Alternative Billing Options
While many sources concur with Kiper that the Bills’ primary need heading into the offseason is a receiver, some have different opinions about how they want to get there. Though he believed LSU pass-catcher Brian Thomas Jr. would be the selection, Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News also projected that the Bills would select a wide receiver with their first-round draft choice.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound receiver might develop into the Bills’ top receiver, according to Iyer.

“Gabe Davis is a pending free agent and Stefon Diggs is showing signs of decline at 30 years old, but the Bills have two good key young targets for Josh Allen in Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid,” Iyer said. Thomas would provide Allen with the

Some people think the Bills would search for a receiver in free agency, but considering the team’s salary cap constraints, their options may be more constrained.

Pro Football Focus identified the Bills as Michael Pittman Jr.’s possible destination; however, given that he is probably among the best receivers available, the Bills are unlikely to be able to afford him.
