At Royal Rumble 2024, A player defeats Randy Orton, Styles, and Knight to reclaim the WWE Title.
At Royal Rumble on Saturday night, Roman Reigns emerged victorious in a Fatal 4-Way match against Randy Orton, AJ Styles, and LA Knight, so securing the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
After delivering an RKO to each of his three opponents, Orton seemed to have this one won. Subsequently, he submitted Reigns to a two-count, but Solo Sikoa intervened and removed the referee from the ring.
The Tribal Chief eventually prevailed and kept the title after striking AJ Styles with a spear.
Reigns had held the title for more than 1,200 days running going into the match, but this was likely the hardest test of his reign thus far.
In the lead-up to the Royal Rumble premium live event, Orton made it plain that his desire to work with Reigns and The Bloodline was a major factor in his decision to sign with SmackDown instead of Raw.
According to the plot, Orton suffered a back injury that kept him out of action for a year and a half. The Usos viciously attacked him and put him through the announce table.
The Viper had The Tribal Chief in his sights, but Knight made it clear that he still had unresolved business with Reigns.
Reigns challenged The Megastar at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in November, risking his belt. Sikoa assisted The Head of the Table in maintaining their lead, despite Knight almost ending the titleholder’s record streak.
Not only were Orton and Knight pursuing Reigns, but Styles also made his injury comeback and went after Reigns and The Bloodline.
At Fastlane, Styles was supposed to team up with John Cena against Sikoa and Jimmy Uso, but Styles was attacked by Uso and Sikoa, who threw him on the sidelines.
Triple Threat battle between Orton, Knight, and Styles was scheduled by SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis in an attempt to find out who Reigns will face at Royal Rumble.
In an attempt to humiliate all of his opponents, Reigns interfered in the match alongside Sikoa and Uso, rendering all of the fighters unable to continue.
To the dismay of Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns, Aldis retaliated by securing a Fatal 4-Way for the Rumble.
Due to the sheer volume of formidable opponents, Reigns faced maybe his biggest vulnerability in recent memory on Saturday. Nevertheless, he managed to hold on once more, and he will now go into WrestleMania 40 as the unchallenged WWE universal champion.
