The clubs confirmed today that FC Cincinnati and CF Monterrey of Liga MX have reached an agreement to deal Brandon Vazquez to the latter for a multi-million dollar price. After four seasons in Orange and Blue, the 25-year-old leaves FC Cincinnati as the team’s all-time top goal scorer and second-most-appearance leader.

Vazquez signed with the Orange and Blue prior to the 2020 season after being selected by FC Cincinnati from Nashville SC in the 2019 MLS Expansion Draft. He only trailed Nick Hagglund (129) in appearances with 127. He scored 43 goals in all competitions for FC Cincinnati, four more than any other player in club history.

My heart belongs to Cincinnati,” Vazquez remarked. “These have been the best years of my career, and I will always treasure the experiences I have made here. For the past four years, Cincinnati fans have supported me and encouraged me to do what I have. Not only do I feel this way, but I know that every player on the team does too. I adore this city; it’s unique.

Cincinnati, Since the beginning, I am incredibly appreciative of your help. I would like to express my gratitude.

The striker tied for the league lead in most goals scored without the need of a penalty kick at the end of the 2022 season with 18 goals throughout the regular season. His six headed goals were tied for the most, while his 16 goals from open play led the MLS. Most importantly, though, was the game-winning goal he scored in the 86th minute to secure FC Cincinnati’s first-ever postseason victory against the New York Red Bulls in Round One of the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs.

In 2022, the two players—teammate Luciano “Lucho” Acosta and himself—became the first in FC Cincinnati history to be selected to both the esteemed MLS Best XI at the end of the season and the MLS All-Star Team.

Vazquez scored 17 goals for the Orange and Blue in 2023 in all competitions, including five in the Leagues Cup, which was capped with his first-ever hat trick for FCC against Liga MX team Chivas in the Group Stage encounter.
