Bengals OC Callahan will join the Titans as head coach, according to an AP source.

According to a person with knowledge of the decision, which was made on Monday, the Tennessee Titans have decided to name Brian Callahan, the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, as their head coach.

Mike Vrabel, who was sacked on January 9th after six seasons, is replaced by Callahan.

Until Monday, the day following the divisional playoff round, the NFL had prohibited current league workers from being interviewed in person.

Callahan is now this month’s third coach hired. Bill Belichick was replaced by Jerod Mayo with the Patriots, while Antonio Pierce, the Raiders’ interim coach, was upgraded.

Callahan has played in the NFL for 14 years. As the offensive coordinator for the Bengals since 2019, he is recognised for having contributed to quarterback Joe Burrow’s growth. He now has the opportunity to work with Will Levis, the quarterback Tennessee selected with the 33rd overall pick in April of last year.

Callahan was a member of the Bengals when they upset the top-seeded Titans in the AFC playoffs following the 2021 year. Cincinnati continued on to the Super Bowl, but the Rams of Los Angeles defeated them there.

Following Watson’s season-ending shoulder injury, general manager Andrew Berry stated on Monday that he would “absolutely love” to re-sign the 39-year-old Flacco, who went 4-1 as a starter and assisted the Browns in making the playoffs.

Berry acknowledged that Flacco might be unable to return due to budgetary constraints, but he expressed openness to the idea.

At his final-season press conference, Berry said, “He played winning football for us. “I would like to have all of our talented players return, but there are limitations. Although I kind of lean both ways, I would not mind seeing Joe return.”

Flacco is still undecided about his playing career and whether he would be content to be a team’s backup quarterback. Signed by the Browns in November out of desperation, the former MVP of the Super Bowl turned around his career by throwing for over 300 yards in each of his past five games.

Flacco might be able to find better terms elsewhere. Last season, when quarterback Jacoby Brissett signed with Washington as a free agency after making 11 starts while Watson was suspended, the Browns found themselves in a similar predicament.

According to a source familiar with the talks, Tommy Rees, the offensive coordinator for Alabama, is almost certainly going to be hired by Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski to oversee the team’s tight ends. The Browns’ interest in Rees was first reported by The Athletic.

Although Jacksonville’s offence and defence had problems, head coach Doug Pederson singled out Caldwell as the reason for the biggest collapse in the team’s history in the latter part of the season. Pederson retained Press Taylor, a longtime buddy and play-caller, along with much of the offensive staff.

In a statement, Pederson stated, “We’re thrilled to welcome Ryan and have him lead our defence going forward.” “Ryan is a superb football coach, and both the Falcons and Saints defences under his leadership had fundamentally sound concepts and physicality.”

While putting much of the burden on the other side of the ball, Pederson blamed injuries to quarterback Trevor Lawrence and receivers Christian Kirk and Zay Jones for the team’s offensive woes.

The team’s final five losses came at the expense of 29.2 points and 146.8 yards of rushing from Caldwell’s squad. The lone victory came from a 26-0 thumping of Carolina, who had the lowest record at the end of the season.
