Positive Update on Kristaps Porzingis’ Injuries from the Celtics

Kristaps Porzingis’ availability for the Celtics’ Saturday matchup against the Clippers is unlikely, but the most recent information suggests that he will be available on a day-to-day basis.

The Boston Celtics put on one of their best games of the year on Thursday night at the Kaseya Centre. They produced the second-most efficient shooting performance in NBA history—achieving an 80.5 percent true shooting percentage—in their 143-110 thumping of the Miami Heat, according to Stat Muse.

Terry Rozier’s basket on the opening possession of the hosts, which Derrick White promptly matched, was the only instance in which the visitors fell behind.

Less than five minutes into the third quarter, Kristaps Porzingis made the lone mistake when he lunged to block a baseline effort by Bam Adebayo that was getting close to the basket. The seven-foot-three centre rolled his ankle after landing on the player’s foot.

However, the Latvian native quickly made his way back to Boston’s bench after hobbling off the field and receiving assistance from the Celtics’ training staff as they went down the tunnel.

During a break, he even pretended to box with Jaylen Brown, demonstrating his positive attitude. Not to mention the positive update he provided, it was reassuring that the former All-Star interacted with the media following the win.

It seems improbable, though, that he will suit up for the TD Garden game on Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers. Due to a left ankle strain, the Celtics originally categorised him as doubtful on their injury report.

Although it’s likely that he’s been downgraded to inactive, the fact that the team hasn’t done so yet seems encouraging for how his ankle is holding up a day later and following his flight back to Boston, where factors like reduced mobility, extended sitting, and changes in cabin pressure could exacerbate pain and swelling.

According to the most recent team report, Porzingis hopes to be playing on a daily basis, and things seem to be doing well in that regard.

But after limping off the pitch and getting help from the Celtics’ training staff as they headed down the tunnel, the Latvian native soon found his way back to the Boston bench.

He even pretended to box with Jaylen Brown during a break, showcasing his upbeat disposition. It was comforting that the former All-Star spoke with the media after the victory, in addition to the encouraging update he gave.

However, it appears unlikely that he will suit up for Saturday’s TD Garden game against the Los Angeles Clippers. On their injury report, the Celtics initially listed him as doubtful due to a left ankle issue.

Since his ankle is holding up a day later and after his flight back to Boston, where factors like limited mobility, prolonged sitting, and changes in cabin pressure could exacerbate pain and swelling, it’s encouraging that the team hasn’t downgraded him to inactive yet, even though it’s likely already the case.

Porzingis hopes to play every day, and things appear to be going well in that sense, according to the most recent team report.
