The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Montreal Alouettes are evaluating their rosters in preparation for the Grey Cup, which is in just a few days.

Thirty-one players from the Montreal Alouettes and Winnipeg Blue Bombers combined were listed on the first injury report for the CFL season, which ends with the Grey Cup on Saturday.

Only six of the 31 players—all of whom are Winnipeg players—did not miss Wednesday’s exercises, even though 19 of them were legitimate scratches.

Dalton Schoen and Nic Demski, two of the Blue Bombers’ wide receivers who are both out by ankle problems, may be the most significant of those players.

Due to the injury, Schoen was declared out of the West Division final; but, earlier this week, his coach, Mike O’Shea, stated that he wasn’t ready to rule him out.

For Winnipeg, he caught 72 receptions for 1,233 yards and 10 touchdowns during a fantastic season. He last played against the BC Lions on October 6.

Demski has also had an outstanding season, hauling in 67 passes for 1,006 yards and six scores. He didn’t play in the West final, but he was a game-time decision. He didn’t play against Edmonton on October 21st.

Winnipeg is seeking to become the second CFL team to win 10 or more Grey Cups. The Blue Bombers have won nine. Montreal is seeking to win its seventh Grey Cup. Winnipeg last won in 2021, while Montreal last won in 2010.

O’Shea wouldn’t rule out Blue Bomber linebacker Adam Bighill earlier this week. Despite wearing a walking boot, he attended this week’s Grey Cup celebrations while recovering from a calf injury.

Despite not playing since the Oct. 21 game against Edmonton, he finished the season with 74 tackles and four sacks.

Due to injury, linebacker Kyrie Wilson (hip), defensive lineman Jackson Jeffcoat (hip), and wide receiver Rasheed Bailey (knee) were the other Blue Bombers who did not practise on Wednesday.
