Packers expected to make one of NFL’s highest-paid QBs, report says

The Packers are huge fans of quality quarterbacks.

After years of managing Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre, Green Bay could have struck gold once again with Jordan Love.

Love, a first-round selection in 2020, eventually succeeded Rodgers as quarterback after the latter’s trade to the New York Jets. And with his 2025 arrival as an unrestricted free agent, the 25-year-old had an outstanding first year that may result in his receiving a paycheck shortly.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Green Bay plans to pay Love among the highest salaries of any quarterback in the NFL.

The Packers like having a competent quarterback.

With Jordan Love, Green Bay might have struck gold once more after years of fielding Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre.

Following Rodgers’ trade to the New York Jets, Love—a 2020 first-round draft selection—finally took over as quarterback. And since he is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in 2025, the 25-year-old had an outstanding first year that may result in him receiving payment shortly.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Green Bay plans to pay Love among the highest salaries of any quarterback in the NFL.

According to Spotrac, Love last May consented to a one-year, $22.5 million maximum contract that came before a $20.2 million fifth-year option. $13.5 million in fully guaranteed funds was part of the arrangement.

Playing in all 17 games this season, the Utah State product completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while completing 579 attempts.

He oversaw Green Bay’s incredible comeback from a 2–5 start to secure the No. 7 spot in the NFC. In the divisional round, the Packers narrowly lost 24-21 at home to the No. 1 San Francisco 49ers after shocking the No. 2 Dallas Cowboys 48-32 on the road.

Love completed 67.3 percent of his passes (55 attempts) for 466 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions in his first playoff game. While leading the league’s youngest squad, he demonstrated his ability to withstand even the strongest defences with both of his interceptions against the 49ers, including one on Green Bay’s last drive.

Love’s potential compensation on his next contract is still unknown, but to put things in perspective, just five quarterbacks make an average yearly salary of more than $50 million: Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals ($55 million); Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers ($52.5 million); Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens ($52 million); Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles ($51 million); Aaron Rodgers of the Jets ($50.27 million).
