Cardinals Sign Former Braves, Rockies Prospect To Increase Depth Within Organisation……

Clearly, St. Louis has been busy during the offseason.

On Monday, the St. Louis Cardinals strengthened their lineup.

This offseason, St. Louis has been quite busy expanding their roster. The fact that the major league team only won 71 games the previous season indicates that the Cardinals had many holes in the organisation when they went into the offseason.

On paper, the Cardinals already appear better after making some big additions to the team. In addition to making some depth additions, St. Louis made some significant offseason acquisitions, the biggest of which was the signing of star pitcher Sonny Grey.

According to the team, St. Louis signed former Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies prospect Jonathan Morales to a minor league contract on Monday in an effort to further bolster the organization’s depth.

“We have signed (catcher) Jonathan Morales and (left-handed pitcher) Nick Raquet to minor league contracts for the 2024 season,” the club announced. “Morales, 29, is a Puerto Rican native who has played in 632 games between the Braves and Rockies systems and has thrown out 51% of Triple-A base stealers since 2019.

Even though Morales could not have much of an impact in the major leagues in 2024, his signing is intriguing. Iván Herrera and Willson Contreras should be in St. Louis’ lineups on opening day.

Since Andrew Knizner is no longer employed by St. Louis, landing Morales is a wise decision. If injuries arise, Morales can step in at Triple-A and be a possibility for the Cardinals.

He played in 96 games in the previous season, smashing.252/.310/.419 with 14 home runs and 62 RBIs in addition to playing strong defence behind the plate.

MLB Triple Crown winner predicted to be a Braves pitcher in 2019
Preseason expectations continue to favour the Atlanta Braves, even bestowing upon them a somewhat unique honour.

After being moved, Kyle Wright led the league in 2022 with 21 wins, while Max Fried finished second in the NL Cy Young voting. The Atlanta Braves have had at least one starting pitcher have a league-leading effort in recent seasons.

In addition, it is anticipated that the Braves player who led all of baseball in strikeouts (281 at a pace of 13.5 per nine innings) will continue to dominate in 2024.

According to FanGraphs “Depth Charts” estimates, Spencer Strider will win the MLB Pitching Triple Crown in 2024. He leads the league in strikeouts, ERA, and wins.

According to their estimates, Strider has a 15-7 record, a 3.18 ERA, and 257 strikeouts.

(To put things in perspective, Strider had a 3.86 ERA in 2023 despite leading all of baseball with 20 victories and a.800 winning percentage.

Since we had two winners in 2011—Justin Verlander of the American League and Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers of the National League—no starter has won the pitching Triple Crown in a complete season. At the age of 28, Verlander went 24-5 in 2011 with a 2.40 ERA and 250 strikeouts for the Detroit Tigers, taking home the MVP and American League Cy Young awards. Although Kershaw’s season wasn’t quite as outstanding, he still won the NL Cy Young Award for the first time in his career thanks to his 21 victories and league-best 2.28 ERA with 248 strikeouts.
