Brock Purdy hasn’t played in many bad games so far this season.

His only below-average efforts came against the Browns and Ravens. However, he can now add his divisional round effort against the Packers to that list. Because of Purdy’s abject performance in that game, the 49ers’ offence was ineffective.

Given that the 49ers were rested heading into a short week and the Packers don’t have a good defence, this was surprising. Perhaps their performance was an exception and they really had a brilliant strategy against Purdy. Maybe Purdy felt the strain of the playoffs in addition to rust. All of these things undoubtedly have an impact on Purdy’s low-level performance, but what was the primary cause of his subpar showing against the Packers?

The components. For Purdy right now, playing in the rain is not the best idea. He had performed horribly against the Browns in his only rain-related 49ers game to date. He was inaccurate and missing simple passes in that game, much like he did against the Packers. His acts seemed to confirm it as the common denominator. His throwing hand was wearing a glove before the game began, but he subsequently took it off since he didn’t feel comfortable wearing it.

However, it also didn’t appear to impact all that much. Replays of the action showed Purdy wiping his hand mid-drop back. He was having too much trouble with the weather, and it also proved to be a mental obstacle for him. In other words, Purdy is going to have an average game unless he is playing in the rain or against a top defence. In the Vikings and Bengals defeats, he wasn’t even quite as awful. That it poured during the divisional playoff game is simply awful.

It doesn’t seem that way as of right now when the 49ers play the Lions in the NFC title game. Purdy ought to be able to regain his usual sleek .

This weekend’s divisional playoff defeat to the San Francisco 49ers marked the untimely end of the Green Bay Packers’ season.

The Packers trailed the No. 1 seed in the NFC all game long, but they couldn’t deliver the decisive blow that would have sent them home and sent San Francisco to the NFC championship game.

The defeat and the end of the season that followed struck several players hard as the Packers made their way back to Green Bay to empty their lockers and prepare for the summer.

Offensive lineman Jon Runyan was picked by the Packers in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL draft out of Michigan. Despite spending four seasons as a player for Green Bay, he is a free agent going into the offseason, thus there is no guarantee he will return to the same locker room the following year.

When a reporter asked Runyan what it meant to “wear the G” of the Green Bay Packers on Monday, he had to fight back tears as he stood at his locker.

It was fantastic. Runyan said, “I’m not sure whether there’s a better organisation out there. This place was amazing to me. It was enjoyable.

Only the fraternity. It’s unbelievable,” Runyan went on. “This establishment. Everyone inside. The fans, the folks who have left the building. It’s a unique location. I made a lot of wonderful friends here. I really hope I stay. It was enjoyable. Thank you very much for that.

Runyan seems to want to stay with the Packers and play for them as long as they will have him. It will take time to see where he ends up. NFL free agency gets underway at 4 p.m. ET on March 13.
