Four New Names Are Associated with Lakers Before Trade Deadline

Four New Names Are Associated with Lakers Before Trade Deadline

Lakers supporters have been urging roster changes to bring some excitement to the team, and as the trade deadline draws near, it seems like there may be some new faces to watch.

Jovan Buha of The Athletic has compiled a list of multiple more possible trade targets for the Lakers, in addition to their publicly publicised interest in Zach LaVine and Dejounte Murray. Bruce Brown and Gary Trent Jr. are on the list; the latter is a client of Klutch Sports.

Additionally suggested were Jerami Grant, a client of Klutch Sports, and Terry Rozier.

On January 19, Buha noted, “Every player fills at least one of the Lakers’ three needs.”

Throughout the season, Grant, 29, is averaging 21.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. In addition, he is making a career-high 40.0% of his shots from beyond the arc.

Considering that he is in the first year of a five-year, $160 million deal and that the Blazers apparently want to retain him, it may be unlikely that the Lakers will be able to sign him.

Another interesting choice is Rozier. This season, the Hornets guard is averaging career-highs in both assists (6.7) and points (23.6).

Although Rozier wouldn’t be inexpensive either, he would be less expensive than Grant. He is now in the second year of a four-year, $96 million contract, with just a partial guarantee for the last year.

The NBA trade deadline is February 8 at 3 p.m. ET.

Each and every NBA fan is aware of the legendary GOAT argument between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. However, strangely, Kevin Durant believes that he ought to be in the discussion as well.

Why then isn’t he involved in that discussion? Durant feels he has the solution.

In an exclusive interview with The Republic, Durant said, “Because I went to the Warriors.” “What makes me not belong in that? That’s the proper question for you to ask. Why not? What have I failed to do?

Regretfully, KD is receiving a lot of flak from NBA fans who strongly disagree with his position.

The fans make some good arguments, and here are the finest responses to his GOAT stance.

Durant, meanwhile, is spearheading the Suns’ offensive attack. Against the Pacers on Sunday, he scored 13 of his 40 points in the fourth quarter.

In the game, the forward also grabbed nine rebounds, two assists, and three blocks.

Despite losing a double-digit lead, the Suns rallied to overcome the Pacers 117-110.

Phoenix has now won five consecutive games and finished the season with a 24–18 record.

After losing 97-102 to OKC on Saturday, Minnesota dropped their first game in four, and Anthony Edwards wasn’t pleased with the way the officials handled Shai-Gilgeous Alexander, another developing talent.

During the Thunder’s victory, SGA went to the line twelve times and made good shots, hitting 92.3 from that position.

Edwards said, “With the calls that Shai gets, it’s hard to [contain OKC].” “It’s hard to stop them. Throughout the game, you are unable to touch him. It is quite difficult to defeat. That squad performs well, particularly in light of calls like that.

In addition to his strong free throw shooting, Alexander finished the game with a game-high 33 points, two rebounds, six assists, and a 45.5 percent shooting percentage.

The T-Wolves shot 21-29 from the free throw line, while OKC shot 30-35 overall.

Their staggering 21 turnovers, seven of which came in the fourth quarter, did not assist Minnesota either.

With twenty-one turnovers, you’re not winning against talented teams, Wolves coach Chris Finch said. “Especially the manner in which we handed it over.”

Of six turnovers, Edwards made five of them and accepted responsibility for his errors.

Edwards said, “I got to look in the mirror.” “because I’m the one who creates the majority of the turnovers.” .. Without a doubt, I’m watching films to attempt to understand what I’m doing. Most result from my attempt to make the appropriate play. It isn’t really present. I’ll get better.

Despite their poor performance, the Timberwolves remain the top seed in the Western Conference, but OKC (29-13) is now just one game behind the Wolves (30-12).

In response to Carmelo Anthony’s disparaging remarks about him, RJ Barrett
POSTED BY NICK JUNGFER ON JANUARY 21, 2024
Barrett, R.J.
When questioned about Carmelo Anthony referring to him as a “bland player” in a recent interview, RJ Barrett had a fantastic reaction.

Melo said the following last week on “7 PM in Brooklyn”:

“Dude, he’s just a plain player. It’s not a shot. It’s not impolite to say that. When I question many Knicks supporters, their responses are usually along the lines of, “He’s good, he gets it done sometimes, but he’s not an exciting player.” You have no idea whether he will get four or twenty-six points.

Barrett responded with extreme moderation when questioned about Anthony’s remarks from the previous weekend.

“I found it amusing,” he said. “Because I had four points the following day.” He was nearly correct; the game before I had 24 I swear, he’s a Hall of Famer.

Barrett responded in a way that demonstrated great maturity by avoiding involvement in any controversy and concentrating only on his basketball game.

Barrett has mostly been in solid form with the Raptors, notwithstanding his four-point performance against the Utah Jazz.

With the Knicks, he averaged 18.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists on 42.3 percent shooting. Since then, he has averaged 20.2 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists on 54.5 percent shooting with the Raptors.

Erik Spoelstra Explains Kyle Lowry’s Benchmarking Process
POSTED by Sam Pasfield on January 21, 2024
Spoelstra Lowry: Amidst rumours of internal issues within the team, Heat guard Kyle Lowry has started the past two games from the bench, and his coach Erik Spoelstra has explained why.

Spoelstra claims that Lowry’s benching isn’t personal, despite the fact that he is only averaging 8.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and four assists a game—his lowest totals since his 2009–10 season with Houston.

“In the second half of the season, I’ll do whatever we feel like we have to,” Spoelstra said. “Things are not as they should be with us. That does not reflect poorly on any one player. It matters what combinations you use. Rotations do have an impact. It does crucial to have lineups that compliment one other well. to I’m continuing working to try to assist the team in solving the problem.

This season,Dallas, James saidhad trouble establishing success and consistency in its lineups.

An inconsequential run of injuries has left the team with a 24–18 season record.

In Friday’s 108-109 defeat to the Hawks, Lowry made his bench debut. He hoped to return to the starting lineup as soon as feasible.

“Spo was hoping for a change and for me to leave the bench,” Lowry said. “Hopefully I can get back into the starting lineup and keep doing what I’ve been doing this year. It was just a one-game thing for me.”

Many are questioning whether coach Spo is intentionally leaving Lowry out of the starting five in order to concentrate on lineups that don’t include him as the trade deadline approaches.

NBA analyst Jake Fischer said late last week, “I can say that with Kyle Lowry’s deal and I think Nikola Jovic, the Heat do have two potential outgoing pieces that the rest of the league is at least talking about and have been made aware are available.” That’s me stating that I don’t believe the Heat are trying to acquire Kyle Lowry and Nikola Jovic for as much money as possible. That’s simply something I’ve heard brought up in talks.

LeBron James Commentary on Rumours of a Lakers Trade
POSTED by Sam Pasfield on January 18, 2024
LeBron Trade Rumours
The Lakers are trying to assemble a strong squad around 39-year-old LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and as the trade deadline of February 8 draws near, there are always rumours around them.

The Lakers’ 21-21 record makes it evident that the two need additional assistance, but LeBron only wants to concentrate on the guys that are already on the floor with him.

Following LA’s 127-110 victory against Dallas, James said to reporters, “I don’t play fantasy basketball.” “I get up to work every day and concentrate on the men that wear this outfit here. To be considering what we lack or what we need is too insulting. That’s not how I treat my colleagues. We have been working hard, and we must keep working hard at it. We’ve been having fun playing the previous several games. We had to carry on that Friday against Brooklyn.

After altering the starting lineup more than 10 times this season, Darvin Ham suddenly looks to be helping the Lakers establish some continuity.

LeBron wants to see a consistent effort from both the starting lineup and the bench to carry the team’s winning ways. They have recently triumphed against teams with a lot of promise, including the Clippers and OKC.

“I believe that the rotations have been quite effective because Coach [Darvin Ham] is aware of who is and is not playing,” LeBron said. As a result, he is able to clock minutes with lineups that players are attempting to get used to. That, in my opinion, is very helpful when our second crew arrive since they are prepared to work straight away. Big minutes have been coming from Max [Christie]. We’ve been getting significant minutes from C-Wood. Our huge minutes are coming from Rui [Hachimura]. That will be necessary for us, so if they can keep doing that, it would be really beneficial to our squad.
