The 19th-ranked player in North America is Michael Hage of the Wolves, who plays for Chicago in the USHL; the 186th-ranked player is Charles Pardue, who is on the US U18 development squad. They have pledged to play for Michigan and Notre Dame, respectively, NCAA programmes.
At number 168 on the list was defenseman Owen Protz, who the Wolves dealt to Brantford this week just before the OHL trade deadline.
..Villeneuve has been centering Sudbury’s third line between Walton and Evan Konyen, and he has not allowed his unexpected exclusion from the forthcoming CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game affect his recent play. In his previous ten games, Villeneuve has averaged more than a point per game.
Six feet and 190 pounds, Villeneuve, a 17-year-old native of Ottawa and Sudbury’s third-overall pick in 2022, has scored 27 points in 36 games this season. In that time, he has been very effective, scoring 20 points and playing crucial checking and penalty-killing responsibilities.
With 15 goals and 15 assists in 35 games, 6-foot-6, 210-pound Torontonian Walton has seen his status climb. He was just added to Team White for the next Top Prospects Game, which is scheduled on January 24 in Moncton.
At choice number 28 in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, Walton was Sudbury’s second-round selection.
McCue, a Nickel City-born winger who was born in late 2005 and won a championship with the Petes in 2022–2023 was recently traded to Owen Sound along with defenseman Konnor Smith. In 28 games thus far this season, he has 14 goals and 20 assists.
