TRADING: OUT, Greenlaw Dubious; #GBvsSF Injury Report due to…
Leading up to the regular season finale, the San Francisco 49ers injury list is quite different from what it was just a few weeks before. Before San Francisco plays the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round on Saturday night, only defensive lineman Clelin Ferrell (knee) is out for the 49ers. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw (Achilles), who missed practice on Tuesday and participated very little in team exercises the following two days, is the only other name on the club’s final injury report of the week.
Defensive lineman Arik Armstead, who struggled through separate foot and knee injuries in the final part of the season, is one guy the 49ers are excited to have back in the lineup. As of Wednesday, he was no longer listed as injured, after missing a total of five games. He is an important part of the 49ers run defence and will play with Javon Hargrave for the first time since the team’s victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13.
The 49ers were able to have a completely padded practice this week, which is uncommon this late in the season, thanks to the team’s recovery and the Bye.
It’s enormous. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said, “We have to do it. “I believe it helps a lot, especially with so many players who didn’t get enough repetitions in our previous game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. In a game a few days ago, these men received a full-padded 70 plays. For individuals as well as a team and their style of play, pads are crucial. We practise almost the same manner without, so we can get away with it, but I believe it’s important when you miss the games and don’t get things like that.”
Shanahan also said that in advance of the NFC Divisional Round, safety George Odum (biceps), who is now in his 21-day practice window, need to be activated off the Injured Reserve list.
Here is the full Divisional Round Game Status Report on Thursday.
