Fear not, NFL fans—there are still a few days before the playoffs return, and this weekend has a tonne of exciting matchups. Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills take on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in what is perhaps the most fascinating matchup. The Chiefs and Bills have played often in the last several postseasons, and their games have always been exciting. The Chiefs and Bills have produced some incredible playoff classics in the past; perhaps, this weekend will provide us more.

Though they are often so excellent that they do not have to travel far from home to play, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are a perennial playoff team. Mahomes is looking forward to renewing his rivalry with Josh Allen and the Bills this coming weekend, when he will play his first road playoff game.

According to an ESPN report, Mahomes said, “We’ve played in a lot of big games.” “I look forward to the challenge,” I have a lot of memories from watching those [Brady-Manning] games as a child, and maybe we can participate in these fantastic games too and leave a legacy for the children who come up after us.

Though it is a friendly rivalry, we nonetheless refer to it as such because of the number of recent high-profile games between the Chiefs and the Bills. The mutual respect between Mahomes and Allen, as well as their respective teams, brings out the best in both. On the pitch, it’s courteous, not resentful, and fantastic football.

“You almost want to win even more when you compete against your friends,” Mahomes said. Josh is one awesome guy. I like both the man and the way he plays football. But when two very competitive individuals who are also buddies off the pitch face off, it goes without saying that we both want to win. We get to hang out during the off-season, and you want to share in the glory a little bit.

This next weekend in Buffalo, a berth in the AFC Championship is up for grabs. Although the Chiefs have defeated the Bills in the playoffs in previous years, Buffalo now has home field advantage in this crucial game. Mahomes is aware that this will provide a different kind of challenge than those he has faced in previous meetings with the Bills.

Mahomes said, “The Bills are a great challenge.” “I believe everyone is aware that they have often obtained my number. They defeated us earlier in the season, but we were fortunate to see them in the playoffs. We are aware that we must play our best football to win, particularly because it is at their location, but our goal is not to spoil someone else’s season. It’s all about moving forward, figuring out how to stay alive, go on, and get to the next round. This weekend, we’re going to do our best to accomplish that and attempt to win a football game.

The good news for Mahomes and the Chiefs is that Buffalo’s frigid weather won’t affect them. They spent last weekend performing in the bitter weather in Kansas City, where they are used to doing so. Even still, Mahomes knows it will be challenging since this is something new for him to do in the playoffs—going on the road.

“I’ve had the good fortune to participate in numerous games at Arrowhead Stadium, and everything has worked out perfectly,” Mahomes said. “Now that we have the fantastic opportunity to travel and play in a hostile environment—one that I haven’t been able to play in with fans in the stands—I’m excited about it despite the fact that I know it will be hostile and that people will be talking trash and other such things. It’s one of the best football environments, and when you grow up watching these games, you want to play in the best environments and experience what it’s like.”

Allen has had six in-person encounters with the Chiefs throughout his professional career.

In addition to the two playoff meetings, four games have taken place in the regular season.

During the regular season, he had an outstanding record of 3-0 in Kansas City, with one defeat occurring at home.

Evidently, Allen doesn’t care about having a home advantage. The home advantage does have advantages, even with the team’s defeat history. This Sunday, excited Bills supporters will be cheering them on as they take on “The Bills Mafia.”

Having having defeated the Chiefs in the regular season, the Bills have the advantage of home field this week and the tiebreaker charm.

Allen is well aware that a player’s value is ultimately determined by how well they perform in the postseason.

“We’ve traded a few times during the regular season, so we know each other well, but we haven’t defeated them in the postseason yet,” Allen said. “This is a team that performs best when called upon, so we need to figure out how to, as I mentioned, put in our best effort and carry out our game plan.”

Aside from the emotional stakes for Allen and his Bills, this game may upset the equilibrium of the NFL playoffs.

Considering their previous success, the Bills’ victory might upset the Chiefs’ current postseason domination.
