The Houston Astros add international signings to their roster while the Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators…

The minor league baseball franchise Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators has released their schedule of games for the upcoming 2024 season. Joe Miller Ballpark in Lake Charles, Louisiana will host 24 home games among the thrilling 48 matches in the programme, which runs from May 31 to July 28. On May 30, the season will officially begin, laying the groundwork for an exciting event that will delight players and spectators alike.

Putting Together Elite Talent
With thirty players drawn from several collegiate levels, the Gumbeaux Gators’ roster has elite talent from Southwest Louisiana and beyond. This unique combination of players reflects the region’s varied athletic scene and gives an idea of the untapped baseball potential that still exists.

Stepping Stone to the Big Leagues One of the Gators’ most distinguishing characteristics is their play in the Texas Collegiate League (TCL). Major League Baseball is known to scout the TCL a lot, which gives college baseball players in lower divisions a great opportunity to improve their game and be noticed. For these candidates, this exposure may be a vital first step in advancing their professional careers.

International Signings Strengthen the Astros’ Squad
In other baseball news, the Houston Astros signed nine prospects from their 2024 International signing class, bolstering their roster. Four players are from the Dominican Republic, two are from Cuba, and one each is from the US, Venezuela, and Panama. The signings take place between the January 15–December 15 International Prospects Signing Period. The latest additions include Franchely Silverio, a talented 17-year-old right-handed infielder from the Dominican Republic, and outfielders Cesar Hernandez and Luis Rives of Cuba.

2024 will not see Kendall Graveman play because to shoulder surgery.

The Astros confirmed on Tuesday that Kendall Graveman, who had shoulder surgery last week, would miss the entire 2024 season.

This follows Graveman’s postseason absence due to shoulder concerns that were very noticeable.

According to the Astros, Graveman had shoulder stiffness and discomfort this offseason after a regimen of rest and rehabilitation before going back to pitching on flat ground.

For Houston, which was already struggling with bullpen losses as a result of free agency, this is a significant setback. This doesn’t impact how they are going about finding some additional bullpen guys, general manager Dana Brown said Chandler Rome of The Athletic.

“This does not intensify our focus on the (bullpen),” said Brown. “We might need to bring in another body, or one of our internal guys could step up.”

Brown continued, saying he wants to avoid making any senseless errors.

Brown said, “I just don’t want to go out and get something to get something.” We often have personnel in-house who are capable of finishing the task. A significant component of this will include spring training. You can always make a trade during or after spring training. We’re going to see how good players are throwing.

Brown informed Rome that he had spoken with the agents of Hector Neris, Ryne Stanek, and Phil Maton even though they had all left in free agency.

Following his trade from the Chicago White Sox, Graveman has a 2.42 ERA with the Astros this season.
