Regretfully: Warriors Assistant passes away aged 46 after a medical crisis…

Dejan Milojević, the assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, went unexpectedly on Tuesday night at the age of 46 after a heart attack. Before the club’s Wednesday night game against the Utah Jazz, Milojević had a “medical emergency” at a team meal on Tuesday in Salt Lake City. The Warriors had to attend to Milojević’s grave health concern, therefore they had to postpone the game earlier on Wednesday. Wednesday was the first mention of Milojević’s passing on Eurohoops. Later, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN verified the information.

From 1994 until 2009, Milojević had a successful 15-year career working abroad in Serbia, Spain, Montenegro, and Turkey. After holding multiple coaching positions abroad, he became an assistant coach with the Warriors in 2021. It was his first job in the NBA as an assistant coach. The abrupt death of Dejan was very saddening for us, as Warriors coach Steve Kerr put it in a statement. “For all of us who had the great pleasure of working with him, as well as his family and friends, this is a shocking and tragic blow. It is also a very trying time.” Dejan was not just an amazing basketball coach but also one of the most optimistic and lovely people I have ever met. His enthusiasm and drive made every day brighter and happier. We are in deep sorrow for his spouse, Natasa, as well as their kids, Nikola and Masa. Their death is incomprehensible.” On Friday night, Golden State will host the Dallas Mavericks at home. In light of Milojević’s unexpected death, it is unclear whether that game will go forward as planned.
