It’s time for Ronnie O’Sullivan to get a knighthood—the letter of the day…
It is long time that Ronnie O’Sullivan’s incredible athletic accomplishments get the credit they deserve. His recent exclusion as a contender for the BBC Sports Personality of 2023 award, which he would have easily won in my opinion in a field lacking in distinction, was a travesty.
He has been the dominant player in snooker for many years, and to cap it all, he has won his eighth Masters championship. These are unusual accomplishments. He has also won seven World Championships.
“At the advanced age of 48 for a professional snooker player, he is something of a controversial figure due to his penchant for the odd expletive outburst. That makes sense for prominent athletes given the intense strain they face during competition, but whether you like him or not, it’s definitely time to add a knighthood to his OBE. Beyond all things, that would help revive some of the faith that the honours system has lost due to certain unexpected awards in recent years, which have diminished it to the point of absurdity.”
After Masters’s snot accusations, Ali Carter maintains his support for O’Sullivan, saying, “I know what I saw.”
Regarding Ronnie O’Sullivan being “snotted” on the stage floor at the Masters final, Ali Carter has strengthened his position.
Carter called the world champion “all over the floor” for “snotting,” or blowing his nose. O’Sullivan reacted angrily, attacking the Masters victor with an astounding x-rated tirade on Carter.
Now that he has hardened his position, the Captain raged, saying to SportsBoom, “I know what I witnessed. By day’s end, I say the truth. And that’s all. Regarding his allegations that O’Sullivan spit on the stage floor during the Masters final, he said, “That’s all there is to it.”

He’s free to think what he wants about me. I have a viewpoint on him. Carter also reacted to O’Sullivan’s advice to his opponent to get his life in order.
Carter went on: “That’s right. Yes, without a doubt. When we were younger, dad was very amiable. No, I didn’t really know what went on, but I did learn a lot from him. Can anybody not learn from his playing? He is the all-time best player. That is beyond dispute.”
