Which players should the Lakers want to add in order to make another run at the second half of the season as the trade deadline draws near?
Regardless of preseason expectations, it seems the Lakers have arrived at the trade deadline year after year seeking a change. And not in the sense of “tuning up, switching parts around,” but rather in the sense of “needing a big spark for the second half of the season.”
The Lakers have struggled this season in the month after their In-Season Tournament victory. Underperforming has affected that as well, even if injuries have been a significant factor. Additionally, there are a few problems with the squad, such the necessity for a backup big man and shooting.
Nevertheless, at least so far, there haven’t been many players connected to the Lakers. Zach LaVine received a lot of attention, but it all seems pointless at this point. Although Dejounte Murray has taken his position, winning that one will need a lot of compromise and negotiating.
Apart than that, however, there hasn’t been much to report other than names that the Lakers may pursue. Which gets us to this article’s main point:

Remain grounded. And in a genuine sense, not in a Lakers exceptionalism kind of way. The Hawks won’t settle for Maxwell Lewis and Gabe Vincent if they declare that Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura are what they want in exchange for Murray.
Trades involving several teams are not feasible. Consider how difficult it is for you to complete that deal on the trade machine and then picture how difficult it must be for real general managers to do it.
When you get angry with a Lakers player or believe he is worthless, keep in mind that the league is also watching the same games. You cannot deal Jaxson Hayes for anything of value if you believe he shouldn’t play in the NBA.
