TRAGIC NEWS: Following a playoff defeat, the Dolphins quarterback was banned following a serious discussion about a contract extension.
The Miami Dolphins’ chances of making it to their first Super Bowl since 1985 ended on Saturday night in Kansas City, after a very promising start to the 2023 season. Actually, maybe it would be more true to say that Miami’s chances for a Super Bowl, like Andy Reid’s moustache, froze over, considering how severely cold it was at Arrowhead Stadium during the Dolphins 26-7 defeat to the Chiefs. All jokes aside about the weather, Miami is already into the 2024 offseason, and the signing of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to a deal by the Dolphins will be by far the most important event to follow.
In contrast to Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow, the other two quarterbacks chosen with the top 10 choices in the 2020 NFL Draft, Tua Tagovailoa is still without a long-term contract extension. Questioned about the status of his deal after the Chiefs defeat—the league’s top quarterback managed only 199 yards passing, his third game of the season with less than 200 yards—Tua
According to Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post, Tua said, “I don’t feel any pressure at all.” “I am completely confident in my abilities to help this brand. Right now, I’m not concerned about it.
For the first time in almost in 20 years, Tua has guided the Miami Dolphins to consecutive playoff berths. Tua has completed 67% of his throws, passed for 8,172 yards, 54 touchdowns to only 22 interceptions, and won 19 of his 30 games throughout the last two seasons.
When questioned about a contract extension before to the start of the season, Tagovailoa said, “I think for myself, I’m always a person that wants to prove to myself that I deserve whatever I get.” I thus believe that this is something I must strive towards. That’s how straightforward and easy it is. (Source: Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio).
In my opinion, Tua has more than earned the extension; yet, my opinions are ultimately irrelevant. The Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, whose opinion matters in this circumstance, stated more in four words than I could in 400 about Tua’s role in the team’s long-term goals.
