The opening game of the 2023–24 regular season between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors will take place in Canada on Wednesday night.
Both teams have decided their starting lineups and injury reports for the match.
Jaden McDaniels and Jaylen Clark are out for the Timberwolves.
The Raptors won’t have Christian Koloko in the interim.
Underdog NBA has revealed the starting lineups for both clubs.
With a 42-40 record, the Timberwolves finished as the eighth seed in the Western Conference the previous season.
Nevertheless, they were defeated (in five games) by the Denver Nuggets in the NBA playoffs’ opening round.
Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert make up a tremendously good squad, but the Timberwolves haven’t won a playoff series since the 2004 season.
The Raptors, on the other hand, are coming off a 41-41 campaign in which they finished as the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference.
They were eliminated from the NBA playoffs after losing to the Chicago Bulls in the play-in round.
Although the team won the NBA Championship in 2019, they have only won one postseason series after then.
The Raptors lost Fred VanVleet in the off-season when he signed a contract with the Houston Rockets, but they still have a strong core in Pascal Siakam, Scottie Barnes, and O.G. Anunoby—two-time NBA All-Stars.
MORE NEWS UPDATE:
Sunday night, is Alexander Mattison performing? Vikings vs. Broncos Week 11 Sunday Night Football fantasy injury update
Right now, the Vikings are winning. They have won five games in a row, solidifying their place in the NFC playoff hunt. That does not include Justin Jefferson and Kirk Cousins, who have both experienced time on injured reserve. However, the rushing attack hasn’t been very good. Minnesota now faces the worst rushing defense in the league in Denver on Sunday Night Football in Week 11. To make matters worse, a concussion may keep starter Alexander Mattison out of the game, leaving a battered backfield with few choices. The same goes for his fantasy football owners, who will be hastily checking for developments prior to deciding which players to start and which ones to sit this week.
Check back often for the most recent updates as we’ll be adding news about Mattison to this post until the official active/inactive report is released on Sunday at about 6:50 p.m. ET.
After suffering a concussion during the Vikings’ Week 10 victory against the Saints, Mattison’s availability for Week 11 has been called into question. Mattison missed practice on Wednesday, but he made a limited comeback on Thursday and Friday. The running back will need to pass the league’s five-step concussion protocol before he can play again on Sunday night, so this is a positive step. Since most players haven’t been cleared to play in time for the following week’s game against the Broncos in Denver, it would be very remarkable if Mattison were to return to action, but Vikings beat reporter Ben Goessling
