Green Bay Packers Make Heartbreaking Announcement Before Week 18 Game Against Chicago Bears

Since their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Green Bay Packers have had their “biggest game of the season” every week. This is true as they prepare for their regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears. The stakes are straightforward: if the Packers win, they will advance to the playoffs. The Bears would want nothing more than to ruin their biggest rival’s season.

The Packers had some bad news to report today during practice as they continue to prepare for the biggest game of the year so far.

According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman:

Dontayvion Wicks, Christian Watson, and Jayden Reed are all working out. Jaire Alexander has returned from suspension and is practicing.

Josh Myers is back in practice after suffering an injury on Sunday. Preston Smith, Isaiah McDuffie, Elgton Jenkins, and Rudy Ford are not among the players present.

Smith recorded one sack and one forced fumble in the Vikings’ 33-10 victory on Sunday.

During the second quarter, Smith stripped Jaren Hall, creating a fumble that Karl Brooks recovered. Jordan Love’s 25-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Reed three plays later was the result of the turnover. Smith has 8.0 sacks this season, 0.5 less than his 2022 total, and is second on the club in that statistic after Rashan Gary.

If he is unable to play against Chicago on Sunday, it will be a major blow for the Packers’ defence. Justin Fields has once again demonstrated his exceptional ability to perform under duress. Having a veteran on the scene like Preston Smith may be able to thwart some of such attempts.
