Unbelievable news:A plane experiences engine problems and makes an emergency landing on an Upper Peninsula highway.
Due to engine issues, the pilot of a small aircraft reported that it was forced to make an emergency landing on a road in the Upper Peninsula on Friday morning.
An in-flight emergency was handled by deputies on December 29 at approximately 11:15 a.m., according to the Marquette (Michigan) County Sheriff’s Office. A tiny Piper Tri-Pacer aircraft made a soft landing in the township of Forsyth on Highway M-94 close to Scorpion Road.
There were two people on board when the emergency landing happened. Mark S. Krumanaker, 65, of Huntington, Indiana, was identified as the passenger, and the pilot, 32-year-old Ryan A. Graves of Munising, Michigan. Graves’s critical flying did not cause any damage to the plane or injure any of the two occupants.
Graves disclosed to the police that he was going to Sawyer Airport from Munising, Michigan, for a scheduled maintenance that was unrelated. Graves said he had engine problems on the way to Sawyer and was unable to make a safe landing at Sawyer Airport.
The 32-year-old informed Sawyer Tower of the in-flight emergency, explaining that landing on the road was his only option. Graves made a flawless, damage-free landing with his calm hands and sure feet.
Airport employees, the Forsyth Police Department, and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office escorted the aircraft from M-94 to the airport’s confines.
