Injury Report:DeVonta Smith of the Philadelphia Eagles is thought to have a minor ankle sprain.
CBS Philadelphia, PA DeVonta Smith, a wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles, left Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals wearing a walking book and crutches; NFL Network reported on Monday that Smith is thought to have a mild ankle sprain. It’s not regarded as a serious injury.
Smith was still wearing the walking boot and using crutches on Monday, according to Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni. It’s uncertain whether Smith will play in Sunday’s regular-season finale against the New York Giants and whether he will be back for the postseason.

“We’ll check up with him,” Sirianni remarked. He is as tough as any player on this team. This man is a fighter. He is extremely tough. He is going to exert every effort to return to that field as soon as possible.
On the game’s second-to-last drive, Smith was hurt for Philadelphia. He was not involved in the Eagles’ game-winning drive after being tackled by a Cardinals defender during a third-and-19 screen pass to running back Kenneth Gainwell.
Smith, one of the most gifted playmakers on the team, finished the game with three receptions for thirty yards. Smith has 81 receptions this season for 1,066 yards and seven touchdowns.
Smith hasn’t missed a game since the Eagles drafted him in the first round of the NFL draft in 2020. But, if he does miss time, the Eagles will need to replace Smith’s ability to make plays alongside fellow wideout A.J. Brown.
And he’s not just valuable to this football team because of his ability to turn the tide of a game with the ball in his hands—his toughness is infectious as well,” Sirianni said. “His toughness is really infectious, in my opinion. Knowing that he puts his body in danger and acts in such a way, I believe that toughness is something that everyone admires and finds inspiring.”
Thus, it’s evident that he wasn’t on that field… It is always a big deal when a player of DeVonta’s caliber, his playmaking ability, is absent from the field, but his toughness will also be a big factor.
