The strange situation involving Dolphins linebacker Lawrence Timmons reached a predictable turn Tuesday, when the team announced Timmons’ indefinite suspension. The Dolphins made no additional comment.

Timmons, who was signed by the Dolphins in the offseason after spending the first decade of his career with the Steelers, was poised to be a starter on the team’s defense. However, those intentions were derailed when he went missing in Los Angeles the day before the Dolphins’ season opener versus the Chargers.
Our John Breech detailed what happened next:
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins really filed a missing persons complaint with numerous police departments in the Los Angeles area. According to TMZ, cops in the neighborhood ultimately found Timmons on Sunday morning after hours of searching.
So, where was Timmons?
The 31-year-old was at LAX, preparing to leave California. According to TMZ, Timmons was attempting to travel to Pennsylvania because he had “spoken with his baby mama who lives there and had told her he missed the baby and wanted to visit.”
Timmons eventually boarded the plane to Pennsylvania, accompanied by a Dolphins team representative.
After Jay Cutler guided the Dolphins to a 19-17 victory without Timmons, coach Adam Gase refused to comment on the matter.
“I’m not saying anything right now,” Gase stated in his postgame press conference, according to Pro Football Talk. “I need to figure some things out first before I talk about this.”
He didn’t say anything new on Monday, either.
“Nothing to add, for what I have right now,” Gase told the Miami Herald. “I’m just gathering a lot of information.” I’ve got a couple additional things to deal with with the men who played yesterday.”
Don’t anticipate Gase to reveal anything about what happened over the weekend. Gase, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, is attempting to keep the specifics private.
You’re not hearing much about Lawrence Timmons’ situation because Gase (while not happy) is doing everything he can to keep it hidden.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Timmons is “doing much better [Monday] and wants to resume playing immediately.” Timmons, on the other hand, won’t be able to do so while he’s on suspension. So, what happens next?
The good news is that the Dolphins will play the Jets on Sunday. The Dolphins won’t need Timmons on the field to beat the Jets. But Timmons will be required by the Dolphins at some point. Mike Hull took his place, and despite recording 10 combined tackles, he was the Dolphins’ third-worst graded defender, according to Pro Football Focus.
Later that day, the Dolphins traded the Saints an unknown draft pick in exchange for linebacker Stephone Anthony.
