GREEN BAY, WI – The Green Bay Packers’ rookie offensive tackle Sean Rhyan, a third-round draft pick, was suspended six games for violating the NFL’s rules on performance-enhancing chemicals, the league announced on Friday.

Rhyan had not played a single offensive snap this season, and his only appearance in a game was on a special teams play on Nov. 6 against the Detroit Lions.

He is banned without pay and can return to the Packers’ active roster after the regular-season finale versus Detroit. His season is gone unless Green Bay (4-7) makes the playoffs.

The 92nd overall pick out of UCLA is the latest in a long line of third-round picks for the Packers who have had problems on or off the field.

Amari Rodgers, a 2021 third-round pick, was waived earlier this season following his fourth mishandled punt return of the season. Their third-round pick in 2019, tight end Jace Sternberger, was released in September and is not currently on an NFL roster. Tight end Josiah Deguara (2020) is the only one of general manager Brian Gutekunst’s third-round picks since 2018.
