VITAL INJURY: Will the new jet kicker participate in the next match?

On Thursday, the New York Jets will play the Cleveland Browns. Greg Zuerlein is classified as questionable on the Jets’ injury report. Zuerlein has been hampered this week due to a quad issue, after scoring a game-winning field goal against the Washington Commanders last week. Will Greg Zuerlein suit up for the Jets against the Browns on Thursday?

Greg Zuerlein’s injury status versus the Browns
Though not confirmed, it looks Greg Zuerlein will play for the Jets on Thursday Night Football against the Browns. About four hours before kickoff, the Jets announced that fullback Nick Bawden and defensive lineman Bruce Hector had been promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster for the game. That’s a solid sign Zuerlein will play because kicker Austin Seibert, who was signed to the practice squad earlier this week, was not promoted.

That’s fantastic news for the Jets. Zuerlein is having an All-Pro season and has been their most consistent offensive player for the past two seasons.

In 2023, Zuerlein has made 30 of 31 field goal attempts (96.8 percent). His only miss came in Week 4, and he’s been perfect from 20 to 49 yards this season.

Last week, in a 30-28 victory over the Commanders, Zuerlein went 3-for-3 and nailed the game-winning shot from 54 yards out with five seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Jets need all the aid they can get because their offensive is dead bottom in the league and they will be facing the No. 1 defense in the NFL, the Browns.

So, the answer to the question of whether Greg Zuerlein will play Thursday against the Browns is most likely yes.
