VITAL INJURY: Green Bay Packers RB will be out for around 5 months due to an injury.

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones believes he is close to returning from a knee injury, but the experienced playmaker realizes he still has a long road ahead of him.

Jones returned to practice in a limited capacity this week on Thursday and Friday.

“I feel like I’m almost there; it’s just getting up to full speed.” “But I feel like I’m getting close,” Jones said on Friday.

On Monday night, the Packers go to New York to face the Giants.

Jones tore his MCL and had to be taken off the field during the Packers’ victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 19. He’s nearly three weeks out from the original injury, which was a ligament sprain that didn’t include the ACL.

Jones stated that the next stage is to earn reps in team periods at practice, which he hopes to do on Saturday.

“I’m feeling better, just being able to get back out there with my guys…just making that progress,” Jones told ESPN. “Hopefully I can come out tomorrow and get involved with some team (periods), that will be telling and helpful going forward.”

What goals does Jones aim to achieve before returning? He stated that he can play through knee pain, but that joint stability is essential. As a running back, he must be able to plant his foot, accelerate swiftly, and take a hit from numerous angles.

Jones has run 66 times for 245 yards and two touchdowns this season while also catching 19 catches for 169 yards and a third touchdown in seven injury-plagued games. He has already missed three games due to a hamstring ailment. Jones’ current four-year streak of 1,000 or more total yards will end unless he has an amazing season finale, but his playmaking from the running back position might be crucial to the Packers down the line in the NFC playoff chase.

In terms of his Monday night playing status, the Packers will release a final injury report with status designations on Saturday. Jones’ status is likely to be problematic, if not uncertain, based on Saturday’s practice.

Following Monday night, Jones and the Packers will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lambeau Field in Green Bay for a Week 15 matchup.
