Chris Whittaker, an American linebacker, has been signed by the Edmonton Elks for the 2024 season.

The six-foot-three, 230-pound edge rusher appeared in 14 games for the University of the Incarnate Word in 2022, recording 36 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. In 2023, he received a rookie mini-camp tryout with the Denver Broncos but was not signed, instead being drafted by the XFL’s Arlington Renegades.

Whittaker spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons at Florida International University, where he recorded 27 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks in 15 games. He began his collegiate career at the University of Kentucky in 2017, however he saw no game action during his first two seasons.

The Edmonton Elks will kick off their 75th anniversary season against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
