NEWS NOW: The Green Bay Packers have selected another defensive coordinator as a substitute.
The Green Bay Packers will have to make a few big decisions this offseason. One of the most notable is what they will do with Joe Barry, the defense’s leader. Given his recent performances, it is commonly assumed that this will be his final year with the team.
Matt LaFleur has remained committed to Barry, at least for the time being. He has stated unequivocally that he does not believe in-season alterations are required. He did, however, make some complimentary thoughts about a defensive coordinator candidate who many believe was a finalist for the job in Green Bay prior to the team selecting Joe Barry.
Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Certainly Has Massive Respect For One Defensive Coordinator In The League
Matt LaFleur and the Packers’ offense will face off against Ejiro Evero and the Panthers defense in Week 16. Prior to the contest, LaFleur had nothing but glowing remarks about what Evero has done with the Panthers’ defense this season:
“He’s done a hell of a job. You saw it a year ago in Denver, and you see the carryover this year with a whole new group. I’ve got a lot of respect for Ejiro,” said LaFleur. “He’s a great communicator, he’s demanding, he holds guys accountable. I’ve just got a ton of respect for what he’s been able to accomplish.”
“You see it on tape. They’re very well coached. He’s got a really good scheme. Nice wrinkles to it,” said LaFleur. “They play very competitive on all three levels. You definitely see how hard they play. It jumps off the tape. I think they’re third in total yards right now. I know they’re top 10 in a lot of categories.”
