New quarterback signed by the Green Bay Packers before first season

The Green Bay Packers have signed another quarterback to their roster ahead of the 2023 NFL season, with Aaron Rodgers leaving the facility for the first time in 18 years

As the team gets ready for life without Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers have signed a new quarterback.

Prior to training camp, Alex McGough worked out for the Packers on Tuesday and will be added to their 90-man roster. The entire roster is scheduled to arrive in Green Bay a few days later, on July 25, after rookies report to camp on July 21.

After being picked by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft, McGough was cut by the team and ended up on a variety of practice squads before joining the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL. McGough won MVP honors in 2023 and guided the Stallions to victory.

The Jets were able to acquire Rodgers following a great trade with the Packers in April and a great deal of conjecture. In addition to the 15th overall pick and fifth-round selection from the 2023 NFL Draft, the four-time MVP arrived in New York in exchange for the following: the 2023 13th overall pick, the 2023 second-round pick (no. 42), the 2023 sixth-round pick (no. 207), and a conditional second-round pick.

The 10-time Pro Bowler will be wearing a different uniform for the first time in the NFL in 2023. With Love taking over as the starting quarterback for the first time since he was chosen in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Packers are getting used to life without Rodgers.
