NEWS NOW: After being named best player tonight, he has been ruled out
Josh Okogie (hip) will not play tonight against the Warriors after a strong first half defending Stephen Curry and knocking down threes. The Suns trailed 56-53 at halftime.
Okogie had been Phoenix’s best player tonight after starting and playing 11 minutes. He finished with 10 points, two assists, two rebounds, and a block while shooting 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Eric Gordon took Okogie’s place in the second half.
Kevin Durant (ankle), Grayson Allen (groin), Nassir Little (concussion), and Damion Lee (knee) are already out for the Suns. Bradley Beal returns to action tonight after missing 19 of the first 22 games.
The Suns will try to win in the second half, but this significantly reduces their chances. Phoenix came into tonight’s game having lost four of its previous five games.
The Sunnyslope Vikings defeated the Mountain View Toros 63-56 in Monday night’s game at Sunnyslope High School.
Sunnyslope Stays Hot
After starting the season at 2-2, Sunnyslope has now won the last two including their 53-52 victory against the reigning state champion Perry Pumas.
The Vikings (4-2) are coming off an incredible championship run last season where they lost to the Pumas. They are looking to replicate that run as the season progresses.
As their top three scorers are all freshmen or sophomores, the team is led by several players in their first two years of high school. They have now won two games in a row and will look to keep the streak going.
Mountain View Keeps Competing
The Toros (3-2) have started the season well after a strong season that ended in a first-round loss to Pinnacle in the open division playoffs.
The team won its first three games before falling to Corona del Sol and now Sunnyside.
