TRAGIC NEWS: A former Steelers quarterback has been confirmed dead.

Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins died Saturday morning after being hit by a dump truck on I-595 in Fort Lauderdale. Police say he was hit while attempting to cross multiple lanes of traffic.
It is unclear why the NFL player was walking along the highway. Haskins had been training with his teammates in South Florida.
On Friday, he posted a chilling Instagram message to his followers, saying, ‘”It is what it is” will keep you at peace’.
Head coach Mike Tomlin described Haskins’ death as “devastated and at a loss for words.”

Dwayne Haskins, a former Ohio State standout, shared a chilling social media post about how he was ‘at peace’ just hours before being hit and killed by a dump truck on a South Florida highway.

‘”It is what it is” will keep you at peace,’ the NFL player said on Instagram stories Friday afternoon, after revealing to his followers that he was hanging out with teammate Najee Harris.

Haskins, 24, was hit by a truck on Interstate 595 in Fort Lauderdale early Saturday morning as he attempted to cross multiple lanes of westbound traffic, according to state troopers.

He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 6:30 a.m.

Police said it remains unclear why the NFL player was walking along the highway.

Traffic Homicide Investigators have launched a probe into the crash, noting that no further details will be provided at this time.

Before Friday’s now-seemingly chilling Instagram story, Haskins last posted on his feed on March 30 from St. Thomas. He had been attending the Legends of Pittsburgh Cruise in which fans could interact with some of their favorite current and former Steelers players.

Haskins, who was set to turn 25 next month, was training with his team in South Florida when the fatal accident occurred early Saturday morning, his agent, Cedric Saunders, confirmed to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed reports of Haskins’ passing and issued his condolences to Haskins’ loved ones.

‘I am devastated and at a loss for words with the unfortunate passing of Dwayne Haskins,’ Tomlin said in a statement confirming his death.

‘He quickly became part of our Steelers family upon his arrival in Pittsburgh and was one of our hardest workers, both on the field and in our community.’

‘Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Kalabrya, and his entire family during this difficult time.’

After a stellar season with the Buckeyes, Haskins was drafted as the 15th overall pick by the Washington Commanders in 2019.

Despite only playing for Ohio State for one season, Haskins quickly established himself as one of the best players in college football.

He threw for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns in his lone season as a starter. He scored 54 touchdowns in his career.

Haskins also set several Big Ten records, earning him the title of Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. In 2018, he finished third in Heisman Trophy voting.

On Saturday, Ohio State’s Twitter feed featured a photo of Haskins. ‘Leader. Legend,’ it said. ‘I’ll always be a Buckeye.’
