‘The Magician’ player breaks the table in less than eight minutes, hitting his first-ever 147 maximum at the Snooker Shoot Out.

At the BetVictor Shoot Out, Shaun Murphy defeated Bulcsu Revesz, a teenage Hungarian, to advance to the second round in Swansea, where he hit the first 147 maximum break.
Revesz, 16, broke off in the quickfire tournament, where matches are played over one frame of 10 minutes’ duration, and hit the blue on the way back up the table.
The 2005 world champion Murphy didn’t need a second invitation as he quickly eliminated the reds and was ready to take the blue into the top-right pocket when a spectator yelled, “Don’t bottle it now.”
With two minutes and 26 seconds remaining in the frame, the 41-year-old Englishman demonstrated steely nerves as he sank the blue off the cushion before returning for the ideal angle off the pink and onto the black, which he rolled in the bottom left pocket.
Mark Allen’s 142 was the previous best break in the competition.
Murphy told Eurosport following his victory, “Don’t bottle it,” as someone shouted out on the (final) blue. My goodness, I’m losing it. It was a lot of fun.
I adore the occasion and find it hard to believe what has transpired. There was a lot of buzz. Playing in this event makes you happy whether you win or lose.
“I played both really well and really poorly, but it was a pleasure to play for the fans here who saw something special.”
In other first-round action on Thursday in Swansea, amateur Steven Hallworth defeated Welshman Jamie Jones, amateur Mark Joyce ended the hopes of Rebecca Kenna, and 16-year-old Jack Borwick defeated Adam Duffy to win his first-ever professional match.
Si Jiahui, a semi-finalist in the World Championship, defeated Liam Highfield to advance to the second round, while 17-year-old Stan Moody defeated Rory McLeod to make it to the final 64.

During Thursday’s evening session at the Swansea Arena, David Lilley defeated Reanne Evans with a break of 92, Jordan Brown of Northern Ireland defeated Gary Wilson 30-29, and Victor Sarkis of Brazil advanced after defeating John Astley.
Anthony Hamilton ended the hopes of Thailand’s Mink Nutcharut with a 54-5 loss, but Mark Williams, a three-time world champion, delighted the home crowd by defeating Matthew Selt 68-4 to cap off the evening.
Murphy was drawn to play Dominic Dale in the last 64, while 13-year-old Shaun Liu who on Wednesday became the youngest winner of a televised ranking match will take on Dean Young.
