Basketball player helps the Los Angeles Lakers advance to the NBA In-Season Tournament final against the Indiana Pacers.
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 133-89 thanks to 30 points from LeBron James, and they advanced to the NBA’s In-Season Tournament final.
In less than twenty-three minutes on the court, James who will turn 39 on December 30—also had eight assists and five rebounds.
After defeating the Milwaukee Bucks 128-119 in the other semifinal on Thursday, the Lakers will take on the Indiana Pacers in Saturday’s championship game.
Following the team’s victory, James was dubbed “extraordinary” by Lakers coach Darvin Ham.
Ham went on, “He is the ultimate tone-setter.”
“Three charges: his energy, his body sacrificed. He established the tone for us tonight on both ends of the basketball court.”
James, who made nine of his twelve shots from the field, rested during the fourth quarter as the Lakers were in complete command after defeating the Pelicans 43–17 in the third.
Tyrese Haliburton led his team in scoring with 27 points and dished out 15 assists in the first semi-final of the tournament, which helped the Pacers shock the top-seeded Bucks.
“I think we’re shocking the world right now,” Haliburton declared.
“Nobody expected us to be here except for the guys in the locker room.”
NBA Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 37 points and 10 rebounds.
The 2021 NBA champions led 94-91 heading into the fourth quarter, but Indiana’s Bruce Brown tied the score with just over six minutes left, and the team managed to hold on to advance to Saturday’s Las Vegas final.

After the Lakers beat the Pelicans in the NBA’s In-Season Tournament, the Indiana Pacers and the Lakers will square off in a major game to determine the inaugural NBA Cup champion.
James finished the game with 30 points, eight assists, and a 9–12 shooting percentage in just three quarters of action. All four of his three-point attempts, including one from the NBA logo, were made by him, demonstrating his proficiency from beyond the arc.
By scoring 16 points and pulling down 15 rebounds, Anthony Davis achieved his 19th double-double of the year. Aside from Austin Reaves, who scored 17 points and dished out seven assists off the bench, Taurean Prince made a team-high five three-pointers. Reaves was also averaging 17.
Although James’ incredibly productive night created the most buzz, fans were impressed by Los Angeles’ overall dominance.
