City Chiefs safety Bryan Cook was carted off the field against the Green Bay Packers after suffering a gruesome-looking ankle injury.
Cook’s ankle appeared to get caught underneath him and bend in the wrong direction as he tackled Packers running back AJ Dillon in the third quarter of Sunday’s game.
Players gathered around him as he was attended to by trainers and then loaded onto the cart with tears streaming down his face.
The NBC broadcast elected not to show the replay of the injury.
After leaving the field, Cook was initially ruled as questionable. Before long, however, he officially ruled out for the contest.
Cook was seen leaving the X-ray room without a shoe or a sock on his left foot and he was unable to put weight on his ankle, either.
