Leeds United’s £300 million hearing is set to get messy as Everton fumes over recent revelations – View

Leeds United have filed a compensation claim after it was revealed that Everton had been charged by the Premier League for violating FFP rules.

The Whites are hoping to return to the Premier League after only one season in the Championship, but a drop in revenue since May has put the club under significant pressure.

There’s no denying that the huge income disparity between those in the top flight and those below it creates a strong desire to return to the Premier League.

Why are Leeds seeking compensation following Everton’s case?
Everton’s 10-point deduction earlier this month came after the Premier League charged them with violating the league’s profit and sustainability rules, having lost significantly more than the allowed amount – deemed to have given the Toffees a sporting advantage as they avoided relegation for the second season in a row.

Meanwhile, Leeds, who finished 19th last season and would have been relegated if Everton had been punished in 22/23, have filed an official claim with the Premier League for compensation for lost revenue, along with Burnley, Leicester City, Southampton, and Nottingham Forest.

It has been approximated that the clubs in question will be looking for around £300million combined in compensation through this hearing.

Everton must be furious.
The fact that the same panel that heard the Everton case will rule on this compensation is an intriguing development.

That means David Phillips KC, who represented Leeds during our 15-point deduction saga, will be in charge of the process.

According to the Daily Mail, the Toffees are enraged that the same panel is investigating this matter, which isn’t surprising.

The published claim from the Premier League shows that Leeds look to stand a real chance of getting major compensation over this matter, which might not go down well on Merseyside as they already believe the decision was ‘unjust’.

Whether the claim is successful for Leeds and the others remains to be seen, but we’re not going to see the end of this for a while, you’d imagine.
