Leeds United player could face more frustration after receiving a surprise injury increase today – View
Leeds United head to Rotherham United tonight with a selection headache at the top of the pitch, as Daniel Farke is concerned about Georginio Rutter’s fitness.
Leeds United face 22nd-placed and managerless Rotherham United in a Yorkshire derby to kick off their Championship campaign.
Daniel Farke, who has won the league twice, will understand that no game can be taken for granted, and this is especially true against difficult opponents.
Will Rutter suit up?
Farke cast doubts before the game when he revealed in his press conference that Georginio Rutter had an abdominal problem following the international break (via the YEP):
“A few players have raised concerns, including Georgi Rutter, who has an abdominal strain and has yet to return to team training.” A serious doubt.”
However, Farke has received a huge boost after Rutter hinted on his Instagram story that he is set to travel with the squad, posting a pre-match graphic:
What does this imply for Bamford?
If Rutter is physically fit to play, he plays – it’s as simple as that.
Meanwhile, Patrick Bamford has had to wait in the wings for his first league start of the season, coming off the bench for several games since returning from pre-season hamstring trouble.
If Rutter starts, Leeds will likely stick with the same lineup that started the attack against Plymouth Argyle before the break.
Importantly for Bamford, this means he’ll have to wait even longer for his first start of the season.
