Ronnie O’Sullivan has revealed his best ever shot, which occurred during a tense match with John Higgins at last year’s World Championship.

Ronnie O’Sullivan has hit some spectacular shots at the Crucible over the years, but his favorite was one he hit against John Higgins during the World Championship last year.

In the semi-finals, the two bitter rivals faced off, and O’Sullivan used his arsenal of stunning tricks to defeat the Wizard of Wishaw in scintillating fashion. The Rocket led 9-6, but Higgins had complete control of the 16th frame and appeared to be closing the gap, only for O’Sullivan to turn on the style.

He was confronted with a devilishly tough red that ran the length of the table to the yellow pocket, with the pink and black hugging each other at the other end. Potting the red was difficult enough, but O’Sullivan bounced the white off two cushions and landed on the black, knocking it clear of the pink.

“I was 43 points behind with two reds on and the pink and black were tied up,” O’Sullivan recalled to Eurosport.

“I screwed across the side cushion, the back cushion, and over to the other side cushion, got onto the black, and potted the black.” For me, that red was as well as I could hit a ball. That shot is still fresh in my mind. That was one of my best performances.”

The black was re-spotted, allowing for a clean hit into the bottom right corner pocket and, ultimately, a momentum-shifting frame win that put him ahead 10-6. He defeated Higgins 17-11 in the semifinals before defeating Judd Trump 18-13 in the final to claim a record-tying seventh world title.
