Instead of a season-ending ACL tear, Packers running back Aaron Jones suffered a sprained MCL, which should limit his time on the sideline;

GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN – Aaron Jones will almost certainly not play for the Green Bay Packers against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, but the sprained MCL suffered against the Chargers was about the best possible news.

“Very relieved,” coach Matt LaFleur said on Tuesday. “It’s nothing long-term.” We’ll just sort of work it out.”

Tight end Luke Musgrave received less favorable news.

Musgrave, who is listed as injured with an abdominal injury, played through a “significant” injury against the Chargers that required him to be hospitalized, according to LaFleur. LaFleur believed Musgrave was out of the hospital as he spoke, but it is a “significant blow offensively” heading into Thursday.

“Certainly, it was a scary situation,” LaFleur admitted.

Musgrave is the rookie tight end with the most receptions and receiving yards. Without him, rookies Tucker Kraft and Ben Sims will have to pick up the slack, according to LaFleur. Kraft entered the Chargers game with three catches for 11 yards, including a 27-yard catch on a short pass that broke a tackle.

While Jones’ availability on Thursday is “highly unlikely,” LaFleur does not believe a four-game absence is necessary.

Jones is one of 17 players listed on the Packers’ injury report for Tuesday. That accounts for nearly one-third of the roster.

With a short turnaround this week and a win over the Chargers on Sunday, the team did not practice on Monday and held a walk-through on Tuesday. As a result, participation rates were estimates. Running backs Jones and Emanuel Wilson, tight ends Musgrave and Josiah Deguara, receiver Dontayvion Wicks, and linebacker De’Vondre Campbell would not have played.

Campbell, who missed three games earlier in the season with an injured ankle, suffered a stinger vs. the Chargers and missed the final 11 minutes.

“A stinger’s usually a nerve in your neck, so kind of went numb for a little bit,” Campbell. “It’s definitely frustrating, but it’s part of the game. Humans weren’t meant to play football, but here we are, so just try to make the most of it.”

Receiver Jayden Reed was added to the injury report as limited participation.

Safety Darnell Savage, who was designated for return from injured reserve on Monday, was listed as limited again. Is it possible he could return to the starting lineup without have a real practice under his belt?

“We’ll see where he’s at,” LaFleur said. “I know he’s itching to get back out there. This has been killing him.”

The Lions have only four players on their injury report. The only player who did not practice was starting left guard Jonah Jackson.
